Hi All,

Ive been trying the trial for a few days and so far Ive failed to get phpcoder to debug. Kasper is on the case and Ive sent him a wink swf etc. No comments required here, yet!

Likes so far:
-------------

# Gui.
Seems fine, the toolbars seem comprehensive. Once Ive got the debugger to work Ill look at all of them!

# Jumping to required settings.
I clicked profile and it complained that a setting was not set, then jumped to the correct dialog. If all incorrect settings do this then I like that!

# Database toolbar.
Looks ok. Really needs some extra code generation options eg sql create table, table populate sql etc. Maybe this can be driven by templates?.

Maybe add a ODBC pass through? Borland had a simple tool that used ODBC to browse any configured dbms. You could browse, insert, delete etc. I think the open office database interface is similar.

Dislikes so far:
----------------

# Wizards.
I hate them in general software and really dislike them in development apps. The problem is they make sense to the app's developer but hide / obscure stuff from the user. Much better to have related settings on the SAME dialog - not spreed all over the place.

# Tooltip details.
They should not just repeat the obvious! eg look at server mappings tooltips, much better to say what the setting is used for! I think they act like an Alias in httpd.ini ?

# Add Import httpd.ini alias option?

# Project files / settings not in project dir.
Really dislike this. If I want to cvs etc then I want ALL project settings in an ascii project file in the project root. Placing ANY project settings in the app dirs is a no no. In fact I would may want to cvs the app settings as well! Oh for the days of a single make file!

Enough, enough...

Before anyone flames, these are comments from only a few days use. In fact Ive been trying a number of apps - but Ill reserve any comparisons between them!
